Japanese Nintendo is reporting that Nintendo has filed some new trademarks. These trademarks include Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Sky Skipper, Fitness Boxing, NES, Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, Nintendo 3DS, and no less than 3 for Game Cube.

Now, the thing that is really exciting about his is that NES, Nintendo Entertainment System, and Game Boy are all English words. Those systems were all called something different in Japan. Meaning those trademarks have to be for something that we will be using over here in the west.

My initial response for this is that these trademarks are going to be used for what ever Nintendo is replacing the Virtual Consul with. Nintendo has all ready stated that their online service would come with a number of NES games, but are they all ready making plans to expand that service to include games from other systems as well? Their trademark of N64 stuff last week seems to point that way. In any case, there isn’t enough information available yet to do anything but speculate, but I’ll keep you posted as things develop.

If Game Cube games were to be made available on the Switch, what games would you be most eager for? Let me know in the comments below.
